The network was composed of an estimated 300 individuals, mainly family members and friends from rural Kentucky, who were involved in the growing, harvesting, and distribution of large amounts of marijuana.
It operated in the Midwest during the 1980s and 1990s and was led by a former Kentucky tobacco farmer named James “Jamie” Dale Grubbs. The Cornbread Mafia is a nickname given to one of the largest marijuana distribution networks in the United States.
